IN THE WIND P32 RENNER WINS INAUGURAL EDGE OF SUMMER MX R icky Renner pocketed the lion's share of the $50,000 purse that was offered at the inaugural Edge of Summer MX held on the grounds of the Soaring Eagle Resort & Casino in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, on August 31. For winning the Pro class, Renner walked away with $10,000. Renner got off to a fast start in the 20-lap main event and on a track that featured part Super- cross and part motocross, but Kyle Chisholm soon came call- ing. At one point, Chisholm over- took the lead but crashed out shortly thereafter, giving the lead back to Renner, who went on to take the victory by just a few sec- onds over Michigan's own Nick Wey, who claimed $8000 of the purse. Minnesota's Mitch Oldenberg filled out the Pro-class podium. Fourth went to James Decotis and fifth to Jimmy Albertson. Earlier in the evening, Jeff Gib- son claimed the victory in the Vet class over Michigan's Kelly Smith and John Grewe. The event also included a Super Mini class, where Chase Sexton and Joey Crown went at it for the win. The two riders, both from Illinois, quickly distanced themselves from the rest of the field with Sexton holding on for the exciting win. Third went to Canada's Tanner Ward. Also in attendance but not competing was the RCH Racing Team, which included team own- ers Ricky Carmichael and Carey Hart and team riders Broc Tickle, Weston Peick and Ivan Tedesco. MOSS DEFENDS TITLE M att Moss, of Team Motul Su- zuki, successfully defended his Australian Motocross Cham- pionship MX1 number-one plate after clinching the 2014 title in Coolum, Queensland, Australia, September 1. It is the Australian's fourth career National title. Moss won the MX2 title in 2009 and '11, and the MX1 title in 2013 and '14. Moss finished fifth overall in the final but it was more than enough to give him and Suzuki the title. "It was really hard having the red plate from the start, even more difficult than last year's championship, but all in all it's been a great year for Team Motul Suzuki," Moss said. "We'll look to keep going from here and I've
