sad way to end the night but at
least I took home second."
Blazusiak didn't seem flus-
tered when Webb made his initial
pass for the lead, nor when he
stretched out that lead after Bla-
zusiak got hung up in the rocks.
The Red Bull KTM rider stayed
strong and patient, closing the
gap on Webb and methodically
getting himself back in to striking
position.
"Cody got by me but I knew
this was like a hot-lap pace and
there's no way someone can
hold on to that pace for long, es-
pecially on this track," Blazusiak
said. "I took it fairly easy and was
hitting my lines and not making
mistakes, saving some energy.
It paid off because I pulled away
from everybody with four laps to
go and I had a pretty good gap at
the end so I'm pretty happy."
After more side-by-side rac-
ing, which had the Atlanta fans
at a fever pitch, Blazusiak finally
made a pass that stuck, and nev-
er looked back on his way to the
finish line.
Colton Haaker intended to make
the battle for the lead a three-way
affair, but a lousy first few laps left
him playing catch up throughout
most of the main event.
Briefly...
I had Taylor Robert, Kailub Russell,
Cory Graffunder—I had quite a few
of the guys here helping me out and
guest instructors, too. I think every-
one had an awesome time. A lot of
the guys today, I saw them out there
tonight high-fiving each other, happy
to be able to ride so much better.
One of the guys [Nathan Brown] won
the Vet class, so it was awesome."
(Top left) Blazusiak came
out on top this time and now
owns the red plate.
(Above) Webb put himself
in a position to win but
couldn't quite get it done.
