Roczen's 1-2 in Indiana, combined with a 2-9 by Dungey, means that Roczen leaves Indiana with a 20-point lead in the championship with just a single round remaining. Barring a complete collapse in Utah this coming Saturday, Roczen will become the 2014 Lucas Oil 450 Briefly... most popular races on the circuit. There were an estimated 3,000 truckloads of organic material mix and sand brought in over the past five months in order to help con- struct the national track. Jeremy Martin's 250 Motocross Championship marked the first time in 22 years a Yamaha rider has won that title. The last time was in 1992 when Jeff Emig won the then AMA 125cc Motocross Championship. Yamaha's last 450 title came in 2007 with Grant Langston. By becoming a national champion Jeremy Martin now places his name alongside fellow Minnesota motocross legends Donny Schmit and Ryan Dungey. When asked why the state with such a short riding season has produced motocross champions he replied, "The Min- nesota racing community is really strong. You wouldn't think it would be like that, but we have a strong dis- trict (AMA District 23) and we have a lot of riders and a good series. There are a lot of people racing and trying to make it coming out of Minnesota. It's cool to see. It was always the kids from California, Texas or Florida, who were always coming up and winning. So it's pretty cool that even coming from Minnesota we still can win." Martin admitted he wasn't as tough as some of the old-school racers from Minnesota. He spends his off- season training in Florida at Ricky Carmichael's facility. "I'm not like Donny Schmit," Martin smiled when thinking about the late-great World Champion from his home state.
