Robby Bell and Ricky Brabec
spent the first couple hundred
miles chasing, but the last half of
the General Tire Vegas to Reno,
presented by Fox, saw them pull
away to win decisively. It was
Bell's second V-R victory and the
first for Brabec in the 535-mile
sprint that's the longest off-road
race in the U.S.
Early leaders Ty Davis and Jus-
tin Morgan held on for second
aboard their Zip-Ty Racing/Pro
Circuit/AXO-backed Husqvarna
FE 501, about 14 and a half min-
utes back, after a dirty fuel prob-
lem cost them more than 10 min-
utes.
Unofficially, Bell/Brabec com-
pleted the race from Beatty to
Dayton in eight hours, 54 min-
utes, 53 seconds with Davis/
Morgan clocking 9:09:19.
Davis/Morgan drew the first
starting spot so they'd leave the
starting line at 5:45 A.M., with
Bell/Brabec starting a minute
later. In other words, the Kawa-
saki duo didn't have to pass the
Husky in order to win it; finish-
