RABAT
DOMINATES
The lap chart tells a static story
of an undeniably dull Moto2 race,
potentially but not actually enlivened
with six laps remaining by spots of rain
that brought out the flags, but didn't
wet the track.
Tito Rabat on the Marc VDS Kalex
started from pole, led away, broke the
lap record the fifth time around, and
was never troubled again.
He had rookie Sam Lowes in hot
pursuit for the first four laps, until the
World Supersport champion slid off
and out. Rabat continued to take his
fifth win of the year by better than
three seconds.
Teammate and title rival Mika Kallio
pushed through impressively in the
first lap to finish in third, promoted to
second when Lowes fell; and he too
was alone for most of the race.
Likewise third-placed Sandro Cor-
tese on the Dynavolt Kalex held the
position throughout.
There was tension in the fight for
fourth, but only one would overtake.
That came when Paginas Amarillas
Kalex's Maverick Vinales took sixth off
Italtrans Kalex's Julian Simon just after
one-third distance.
They were trailing Thomas Luthi on
the Interwetten Suter and Dominique
Aegerter on the Technomag Suter,
