LEHMAN WINS, JOHNSON DOUBLE CRASHES
All day long the AMA Pro Singles
main event was shaping up to be a
showdown between the series points
leader, Parkinson Brothers Racing's
Kyle Johnson, and Supermoto-ace-
turned-TT-specialist Jacob Lehmann.
And that's exactly what the two
contrasting riders were delivering dur-
ing the race until the usually consistent
Johnson crashed from the lead on lap
12 of 16. Johnson quickly remounted
only to tumble again --and even harder
-- later that same lap, bringing out the
race's second red flag.
Johnson was ruled out for the
second restart. Lehman held on to
take the checkered flag despite being
presented with a spirited challenge
from Rod Lake Racing's Bronson Bau-
man over the race's final laps.
After claiming his second career
win (his first coming in 2012 at his
home race, the Castle Rock TT) Lehm-
ann said, "Me and my mechanic (JD's
father) Gary Beach were talking earlier
and the first time I came here I finished
up eighth. Second year I ended up
fourth. We figured it goes by fours and
it worked out for me today."
Despite his difficult run in Illinois,
Johnson retains his points lead with
second-ranked Davis Fisher sitting
the round out (150-142). Third-ranked
