Kawasaki broke with six laps to
go Wiles found himself in sixth.
Bonsey took seventh on the
second Zanotti Racing Harley-
Davidson, a couple of seconds
behind Wiles. Bauman, on the
Werner Kawasaki edged Jake
Shoemaker and his Montgom-
eryville Cycle Center Kawasaki in
a great battle for eighth. Robert
Pearson was 10th on his Weir-
bach Racing Kawasaki, his fourth
top-10 finish of the season.
After Indy Mees and Smith are
separated by just a single point,
182-181, atop the Grand National
standings. Even though he has
yet to win this season Johnson's
consistent finishes are keeping
him in title contention. He's third
with 174 points. And the win by
Coolbeth put him back with at
least a fighting chance. He's now
fourth with 157 points.
