Canard began the day on a
good note with the fastest lap
in timed qualifying but his first
choice of gate pick didn't quite
guarantee him a good start in
moto one. The Oklahoma-native
started from outside the top 10
and spent a lot of time fighting his
way forward to ultimately finish
fourth in the first moto.
The second moto was all about
the red riders as Canard and
Tomac grabbed favorable starts
and went head-to-head right
from the start. Tomac grabbed
the early lead aboard his GEICO
Honda but Canard didn't back
down. The Team Honda Muscle
Milk rider made his move at the
bottom of Unadilla's infamous
"Screw-U" hill, but the battle was
far from over as the duo diced
back and forth for several laps.
"After I passed Eli, I messed up
on that little step-up and he kind
of got me back. But it was one of
those things. I wanted to try and
make it happen right there be-
cause I knew that Ryan and Ken
were probably coming," Canard
said. "It's definitely difficult be-
