VOL. 51 ISSUE 32 AUGUST 12, 2014 P51 He might have had to fight harder. For the first 11 laps he'd been tailing a lively battle be- tween NGM Forward Yamaha's Aleix Espargaro and LCR Hon- da's Stefan Bradl. Increasingly frustrated by the Spaniard's braking and corner speed on the slower Yamaha, Bradl had launched at attack that ended in- stead in a collision. He crashed; Espargaro's bike had everything behind the seat smashed, and he was out. Some way back, a most enter- taining British battle for eighth, between Cal Crutchlow on the factory Marlboro Ducati and Scott Redding's Open-class Go&Fun RCV1000R Honda. Crutchlow was getting on no better with the Desmosedici than before; Red- ding was on blazing form, "taking more risks" as he realized he was riding to prove himself worthy of a factory Honda next year. He got ahead time and again through the turns, but Crutchlow had the speed to pass him every time again down the straight, in- cluding the final time. Two more production Hondas were next: Drive M7 Aspar's Hi- Colin Edwards ended up 13 th in the final U.S. Grand Prix of his career. Ten in a row? Why not? Marquez celebrates the continuation of his perfect season.
