IN THE WIND P32 races of the tripleheader sev- enth round at Oulton Park. How- ever, the Australian retaliated with a victory in the final race. Kiyonari had provided a stun- ning performance in the first race of the weekend (Saturday), charging through from the fourth row of the grid to take the win ahead of Brookes. In the sec- ond race (Sunday) the Buildbase BMW rider again overcame the challenge from the Australian to take his winning tally at the circuit to 12 races. "That was very difficult be- cause the conditions were changing from wet to dry, but I am very happy with the win," Ki- yonari said after the first race on Sunday. "It is important for me to keep winning as I don't want to be second now." Brookes was relentless in his quest for the race-three win, which he scored in a command- ing style at the Cheshire circuit. The Milwaukee Yamaha rider led from the start of the final contest to head off series leader Shane Byrne, who maintained his run of podium finishes. "I wanted that win badly," Brookes said. "I wanted to get out to the front first and go for it because I thought I could then control the race. I wanted to give myself the best possible chance and that was what I did by tak- ing the lead at the start. I didn't know how hard to push to start with, but I decided and just kept focused. I didn't know what was going to happen, but I knew I wanted to win!" Quattro Plant Kawasaki's Dan Linfoot continued his recent run of form by celebrating his first podium finish in the champion- ship with a strong third place ahead of the determined Kiyo- nari. In Supersport action, Ameri- can James Rispoli had a season- best sixth in the second of two races at Oulton Park. Risoli is now 10 th in the title chase. BACH ON TOP IN INDIANA R ockstar Energy/JCR Honda's Chris Bach was the overall winner at the Copperhead Row round of the AMA MAXC Racing Series in Martinsville, Indiana, August 9-10. It was Bach's third win of the series, with six rounds held so far. Bach had the lead by the end of the first lap, and after a short skirmish with Teddy Mullins, ran off with the win. "At the beginning I didn't want to lead because the track needed breaking in," said Bach. "It was a tough course just the way it was laid out and some of the guys were strug- gling on some of the hills. It made it pretty tough to pull away from anybody, but it was a pretty good race day!" Mullins eventually dropped out with a mechanical prob- lem. Derrik Allen (Kawasaki) had an up-and-down day, but when it was all over, he ended it on an up note, taking sec- ond overall about two minutes behind Bach. Previous-round winner Austin Lee (Husaberg) finished third ahead of Chris Douglas (KTM) and Jake Froman (Suzuki). PHOTOGRAPHY BY JEFF M. VANASDAL Chris Bach claimed his third win of the AMA MAXC Racing Series in Indiana.
