MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP, PRESENTED BY AMSOIL
VOL. 51 ISSUE 32 AUGUST 12, 2014 P99
pressing KTM's Luke Purther for
second. With a lap to go, Master-
pool got around Purther only to
bobble two turns from the end,
giving second back to Purther.
The championship, however,
came down to a final-moto show-
down between first-moto winner
Purther and second-moto win-
ner Jon Ames. Neither rider got
great starts, and Purther even-
tually crashed and dropped out.
Ames ended up third, which was
enough to give the Yamaha rider
the championship (2-1-3) over
final-moto winner Masterpool (4-
3-1) and Justin Cooper (3-12-2).
In the Two-Stroke B/C 16+
class, which was made up mostly
of Yamaha YZ250s and KTM 250
SXs, Yamaha rider Carlen Gard-
ner came from behind to win the
title over KTM rider Timmy Ba-
dour. Gardner went 3-1-2 and Ba-
dour 1-2-4. CN
Utah's Garrett
Marchbanks (82)
was honored
with the Youth
Rider Award
after winning the
Mini Sr. 1 and 2
Championships.
