ROCKY MOUNTAIN MC WORLD OFF-ROAD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES, OFF ROAD STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY HARLEN FOLEY G ary Sutherlin claimed his fifth win of the season at round seven of the 2014 Rocky Mountain MC World Off- Road Championship Series pre- sented by Motoworks and Dirt Bike Magazine. Yamaha's Ricky Russell claimed the second spot, while Rory Sullivan also found his way onto the podium. The WORCS Championship headed to the Straddleline ORV Park in Washington State for the first time since 2010. Unlike the high-speed tracks of the des- erts in the southwest, the north- west track presented some new challenges to the racers, mainly because of the tight and techni- cal single-track woods sections, and there were plenty of rocks and roots to keep the racers on their toes. In addition, there was the EnduroCross section, which was the most challenging Endu- roCross section the racers had seen all season. All of this attract- ed a large crowd of spectators that watched most of the racing action from the trackside grand stands. Once again, WORCS racers were greeted to near-perfect race conditions, which also at- tracted the largest pro turnout of the season with 14 pros on the front line battling for the win. Nine of the new pros all came from the Pacific North West, which gave them an advantage of having ex- perience racing in the trees. This advantage resulted in two of the area's racers making the podium.
