VOL. 51 ISSUE 31 AUGUST 5, 2014 P55 with the status quo. And the status quo was bet- ter. Although it was still difficult to pass, the racing was more excit- ing than in a long time. And part of that was the simple fact that the track conditions were better than in a long time. "I think this is the best this track's ever been," Wiles said. "It's probably the widest the groove has ever been here. They've got really good moisture in it. Jared Mees also pointed out that although it was difficult to pass on, you at least had the op- portunity to do so. "The track was probably the best I've seen at this place in a long time," Mees said. "They did a great job. There was some passing, it was hard to pass, but at least you could pass. They're really getting a handle on it." But then again there were still critiques and the consensus wasn't unanimous. Bryan Smith felt that it was still not passing friendly and part of the reason why was their track prep. "The track's going to be hard to pass no matter what, but the way they prep it definitely limits any passing I think," Smith said. "They don't really water the whole track so then the groove kind of follows the water and it's not re- ally the preferred line so it kind of mentally screws you up. And it's not smooth. It's just unfortunate that they don't spend more time here because they had a good crowd. They should really spend a whole day before the race prep- ping it or something. But the in- field's rough and narrow and they don't water the whole dirt… you think they would water the whole track because it's dirt and we might race on it, but they don't. There's a lot of things that could make this place a lot cooler than what it is, but they never seem to do it. Maybe if we complain more they'll do it next year. I don't know." So would the second jump have helped? Again the con- sensus was not unanimous and ranged across a broad spectrum, varying from safety concerns and strong objections to take it or leave it feelings based mainly on not thinking it would really make In the Pro Singles class Domi- nic Colindres dominated and took his second straight Castle Rock TT.
