afraid I was getting off to a bad
start, but I just soldiered on and
in the second test things started
to come around."
Grant Baylor, the younger of
the Steward brothers, finished
fifth despite getting off to a slow
start in sections one and two.
"Things started out kind of slow
for me," said Baylor. "I stalled my
bike a few times in the first test
and had problems getting it start-
ed. Once I got going, I was just
trying to figure out how to ride
this stuff. I didn't do too well here
last year, but today I was able to
slowly pick things up as the day
went on, my times were improv-
ing in each section, and I was
able to end up in fifth."
Virginia KTM rider Paddy Hol-
loway turned in his best ride in
the pro class, finishing sixth over-
all finish with a steady ride on the
slick and rocky terrain.
N-Fab/Am Pro Yamaha's Brad
Bakken edged AirGroup Racing's
Ryder Lafferty by 10 seconds for
sixth, while Craig DeLong, An-
drew's younger brother, finished
out the day in ninth overall, with
Fahringer in 10
th
.
