CODY WEBB – AMERICAN BETA AMA ENDUROCROSS RIDER
INTENSITY!
AMERICAN BETA'S
CODY WEBB IS
FINDING WHAT IT
TAKES TO WIN?
STORY BY JEAN TURNER
T
rials riders are renowned
for their meticulous skill and
patience on a motorcycle,
but it takes more than that to win
races. It takes an aggressive hand
to muscle your way to the front
and stay there, especially on tight
courses like that of EnduroCross.
Learning that aggression is the
challenge facing trials riders in to-
day's extreme off-road scene, but
it's easier said than done.
Former national trials champion
Cody Webb turned his attention
to AMA EnduroCross in 2011, and
though he had plenty of skill, real-
ized he needed to up the intensity.
The American Beta factory rider
made a loud statement in 2012
with some stunning head-to-head
battles with reigning EnduroCross
champion Taddy Blazusiak, which
garnered him attention heading
into the 2013 season. Webb was
looking to kick off a serious bid at
the title that year, but his hopes
were soon dashed when he suf-
fered a broken foot early in the
season. But this could very well
be the year it all comes together
for the American Beta rider. His
2014 season, though still reason-
ably fresh, has already exceeded
his expectations. Webb won the
opening round of the AMA Endu-
roCross Series and now finds him-
self holding the points lead in the
series after three rounds. He has
also earned himself an X Games
medal, the overall win at Last Dog
Standing and most recently (and
surprisingly) the overall win at the
final round of the AMA MotoTrial
