VOL. 51 ISSUE 30 JULY 29, 2014 P37
Briefly...
JGR/Toyota Yamaha's Josh Grant
was the fastest guy on the track at
Washougal in the first practice ses-
sion. Although the times for most
of the racers dropped by as much
as four seconds from the first to the
second sessions, Grant's time from
the first session was good enough
to qualify him fifth overall with a
2:16.412. A big crash in the second
qualifier saw him hit his head, and
Grant had to miss the race because
he failed the balance portion of the
concussion evaluation. Grant was
bummed that he couldn't race, but
race day was also the day he and his
wife, Ashley's, second child was due
to be born.
Rockstar Energy KTM's Jason An-
derson also suffered a concussion
at Washougal. While battling inside
the top five in the first moto, Ander-
son went down hard on one of the
fastest sections of the track and was
noticeably wobbly when he got up.
He got his bike restarted, but the
bars were very bent, and he went
back to the pits and smartly opted
not to push it and try to race moto
two.
After an impressive ride in moto
one at Washougal that landed him
in second place, just eight seconds
behind fellow Frenchman and domi-
nant Washougal force Marvin Mus-
quin, Valli Motorsports Yamaha's
Christophe Pourcel ran into some
sort of issue in moto two. Pourcel
had the holeshot and ran second
to Justin Bogle with laptimes in the
low 2:21s to start the second moto,
then his times started dropping off: A
2:25 on lap five, followed by a 2:27, a

At Washougal, not only did the
Red Bull KTM squad win all four
motos in both classes with Ryan
Dungey and Marvin Musquin, but
those two were also the top two
qualifiers going into the motos as
well. There was a KTM at the top
of every results list that mattered
on this day at Washougal. The or-
ange team was impressive to say
the least.
450 NATIONAL
Love Affair
Ryan Dungey has had a love af-
fair with Washougal for most of
his career. He won his first-ever
AMA National here in the 250cc
class back in 2008, and he won
there every year after that, save
for 2013, when he traded moto
wins with eventual champion
Ryan Villopoto and finished sec-

at Washougal,
Ryan Dungey has

Roczen's series
lead down to just

motos left.
