for the Pro 2 class). Instead of the
usual hour and 50 minutes plus a
lap, the afternoon race would be
strictly for the Pros and Pro 2s. (All
sportsman racers would compete
in their own 90-minute race in the
morning. No ATVs and no minis,
as suggested by the landowner
and city officials.) And it would be
split into two motos of an hour and
15 minutes each, separated by a
45-minute break.
Therefore, it called for a little
less pacing and more intensity, and
that's something that suited Robert
fine as it reminded him somewhat of
the format that the Rocky Mountain
ATV/MC World Off-Road Champi-
onship Series (WORCS) tried a few
years ago.
"I like this format way better be-
cause instead of waiting around
for 24 hours to race again, we had
a 45-minute break, [then] boom,
we're back out again," he said. "I
thought it was really cool because
you still had to be fit enough to ride
for two, two and a half hours, but
you just got that little break in be-
Short, fast races

Whibley's forte,
but he did all he
could to try for
five wins in a row.
Jimmy Jarrett liked the pair of shorter
"motos" compared to the usual longer
single OMA races. His 3-3 third was the
best he's done so far this season.
