the two of them was another fast,
French former World champ in
Marvin Musquin. In qualifying,
Musquin's fastest lap was fully a
second and a half faster than the
next racer, Justin Bogle.
Musquin made quick work of
Pourcel, but Martin put up a fight
for a few laps before Musquin
forced his way by for the lead.
Musquin was the only racer to
dive into the 2:16s, and he did
it four laps in a row, starting the
very moment that he took the
lead from Martin. That sealed the
deal.
"I just felt so good on the track
and the dirt was awesome in the
morning," Musquin said. "Rutted,
soft, that track is really nice. I re-
ally like the layout, the area, the
trees and stuff—little sketchy with
the shadows, coming from really
bright light to coming into dark.
It's a tough track, but it looks like
it suits me really well."
Once Musquin took over the
lead and took off, Pourcel went to
work on Martin. Martin seemed
unable to regain his composure
after Musquin passed him and
