P114 40 Years Ago August 6, 1974 A photo of Steve McLaughlin leading Reg Pridgmore and Yvon DuHamel in the Open Production class at the Superbike National at Laguna Seca was pictured on the cover. Kenny Roberts was the runaway winner in the Junior/ Expert and Expert finals… We covered the SCORE Baja International won by teammates Mitch Mayes and A.C. Baken. They piloted the first vehicle across the finish line… We traveled to Springfield, New York, to cover the InterAMA Motocross, where Zdenek Velky captured the title and Tim Hart the 125 World Cup race victory. 30 Years Ago August 8, 1984 We pictured the latest Husqvarna 125WR in action on the cover to accom- pany our test of the small-bore two-stroke off-roader… Hank Scott edged out Ted Boody for the DuQuoin Mile victory… David Bailey claimed the big win at the Foxboro Supercross in Massachusetts; Rick Johnson was runner-up… We covered the Overseas Speedway final in England headed by Americans Lance King and the Moran brothers, Shawn and Kelly. They qualified for the World Finals in Sweden… We interviewed dirt trackers Chris Carr and Don Estep. 10 Years Ago August 4, 2004 We featured street motorcycles and motorcycle riders that race on the street on the cover 10 years ago… We covered Valentino Rossi's win at the Doning- ton Park MotoGP… We were also there when Matt Mladin won at Mid-Ohio… It wasn't all pavement; however, we also covered Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart's National MX victories at Troy, Chris Carr's romp at the Oak Ridge Short Track, and Mike Lafferty's win at the Michigan National Enduro.
