the schedule, Tomac said that all
suited him except for next week's
track at Washougal, saying that
he has pretty much has a love-
hate relationship with the moun-
tainous facility.
DUNGEY'S HOMECOMING
Millville was a home race for
Ryan Dungey who lives about
a two-hour drive from Millville in
Belle Plaine. The Red Bull KTM
rider was hoping the race would
be a turning point in his bid to run
down Roczen in the title chase.
And to some extent it was.
Dungey's runner-up finish
marked the second race in a
row that he had beaten Roczen
and had it not been for Tomac,
Dungey would have gained more
than just two points on Roczen.
But still, it was a mental victory for
Dungey who was clearly faster
than his teammate in the second
moto.
In the first moto, Dungey trailed
Roczen for the first few laps, be-
fore a tip-over allowed Tomac to
get around.
"I was behind Ken and we
were coming down the steep hill
and I was following his line," said
Dungey. "He pushed the berm at
the bottom and when I came in I
got heavy on the front and it kind
of sucked up all my momentum
and it pulled me into the berm
and I fell down, which let Eli get
by me."
Dungey almost went down
again at the midway point, which
dropped him several seconds
behind the battle for the lead. In
the end, Dungey settled for third.
In the second moto, Dungey
ran in second for the entire dis-
tance and even closed on Tomac
late in the race, but he struggled
with a few lappers and dropped
off the pace just before the finish.
"We got into lappers late in the
race and he just did a better job
of getting by those guys and he
was able to open up a gap," said
Dungey. "It would have been nice
to go down to the wire with Eli,
Tomac passed
series leader
Roczen for the
lead.
