Anderson Wins Then Wilts
Jason Anderson was impressive
in practice, leading qualifying un-
til the very end where Christophe
Pourcel finally eclipsed the Rock-
star Racing KTM rider's time. In
the first moto, Anderson finally
got the monkey off his back by
getting his first-ever moto win
even though Martin and Baggett
were closing in.
"I'm stoked to get that first moto
win; I think I've had that in me for
a while," said Anderson. "Before
today, I had never led an outdoor
moto. I was able to get by Bogle
and Pourcel and get a gap, but
then at the end, Martin and Baggett
started closing and I was starting
to stress out a little. I was keeping
an eye on them and my mechanic
was giving me the gap. I think I had
it up to eight seconds at one point,
but then I started getting into lap-
pers and I panicked it a little. In one
lap they gained like four seconds
on me. But then the two-lap board
came out and I knew I could man-
age it from there."
