MONSTER ENERGY MAMMOTH MOTOCROSS
VOL. 51 ISSUE 27 JULY 8, 2014 P73
As always, the starting
line is a busy place
at the Mammoth
Motocross.
M
ammoth Motocross, one of the longest-
running motocross events in the country,
once again ran its course in the scenic
Sierra Nevada range, near the famous ski resort
of Mammoth Mountain, California, and once again
it was the place to be if old-school motocross is
your game. As usual, the Mammoth track, which
features only a few jumps (just two benign table-
tops), can still be a real challenge if you're not
used to long uphills, steep downhills, lots of turns
and big bumps—lots of bumps—all the way around
the track that takes the top racers well over two
minutes to circulate. Throw in a 7400-foot eleva-
tion that leaves both rider and machine starving
for air, and you have conditions that certainly tests
every riders' skill and stamina. And, once again,
hundreds of riders were up for the test and packed
the tiny pit area every day, all week long.
