ROUND 6/JULY 5, 2014
HAGERSTOWN SPEEDWAY, HAGERSTOWN MARYLAND

shook up the series standings.
Coolbeth lost his series lead to
Mees, but essentially the race
only served to make the champi-
onship battle even more heated.
In an epic four-rider battle it's
Mees leading the series by a
single point over Jake Johnson,
JOHNSON'S
LAST-LAP PASS
Kyle Johnson put together an excit-
ing come-from-behind victory on his
Parkinson Brothers Honda to edge out
Ryan Wells by .244 of a second in the
Pro Singles at Hagerstown. The win,
Johnson's third in a row, has propelled
him to the top spot in the series points
chase.
"Coming into Hagerstown with
back-to-back wins and the points race
tightening up brought extra pressure,"
Johnson said. "I needed to keep the
momentum going and claim as many
points as possible. After qualifying we
were once again in the top spot and
backed that up with a heat race win.
I got a terrible start in the main and
knew I had my work cut out for me.
Once I got to third, Wells and Davis
had stretched out their lead in front of
me, so I had a lot of ground to make

charge to take the win."
Wells led every lap of the final on
his GE Capital/Motorcycle Superstore
KTM except for the last.
"I got off to a great start and it was
a quiet race for me as I didn't make
many mistakes," Wells said. "Then on
lap 15 I heard the first noises I heard
the whole race, sure enough it was
Kyle who was on a mission and got by
me on the last lap."
104-103. Coolbeth and Smith
are just a hairs-breadth back
tied in third with 99 points
apiece. Brandon Robinson
and Sammy Halbert are also
within shooting range of the
leaders and there's still a lot of
racing to be done.
Mees, hot off his victory at
Lima a week earlier, was the fast-
est rider in qualifying, clocking a
25.087-second lap on his Kenny
Tolbert-tuned Rogers Racing/Las
Vegas HD/Blue Springs H-D Har-
ley-Davidson XR750. The very fact
that Mees would be fastest on a
