posed of the 12-lap leader, Rea.
For Guintoli it would be surely
podium number two of the day
after race one's second place?
Only he and Kawasaki's Loris
Baz were in Sykes' really close
orbit after Marco Melandri 's tire
choice backfired in the first race
and he finished fourth.
But it was not to be as Rea
would turn out a worthy winner
in his own right after an ill-fated
pass from Guintoli on his own
teammate into the turn five down-
hill hairpin. They made contact
and crashed, with Melandri feel-

sixth, a spot that
eventually went
to Lowes.
