Shorty's Best Day
BTO Sports' Andrew Short turned
in his best outdoor finish of the
year with a 5-5 for fifth overall.
"This is my best day this year
for the outdoor Nationals," said
Short. "I got really good starts
and I felt really strong today. The
second moto, I got a little scared.
I pulled all my tear-offs about mid-
way through the moto, I grabbed
the whole stack instead of grab-
bing a single one. It was hard to
pass, but some guys made some
mistakes and I just stayed on their
wheel and it turned out good for
me. I had some good battles with
Josh Grant, [Brett] Metcalfe and
[Chad] Reed, and sometimes I'm
on the losing end of those battles

and it's a horrible feeling, but to-
day I came out on top of those
little battles and I think that's a
positive step for me."
Stewart Stumbles
James Stewart says that Red-
Bud is one of his favorite tracks
on the schedule, but this year's
race wasn't so kind to the Suzuki
rider. After getting away in fifth in
the first moto, Stewart was right
on Grant's rear tire when the two
went down in the turn before
LaRocco's leap. The incident
tweaked Stewart's front fork and
ended his moto.
