Briefly...
Another ATV racer making a two-
wheeled appearance was former
OMA ATV champ Jody Estes. "I'm
just trying to get the fun back in rac-
ing," he said. "These things, I've
always wanted to learn how to ride
them. I've got a buddy back home
that I've been riding with most of
the winter; he's pretty quick. Rid-
ing with him, I think, has helped me
out a lot. It's a challenge to me so
it makes it fun! I might end up go-
ing full force on the bike before too
long. I'm ready—[second place] ain't
where I want to be yet!" The OMA's
Monty Gusse said, "He didn't know
what class he should ride so he
came over to sign-up and told me
he was going straight to the Open
A class and he got second place.
He added, "From our end of it, if
we can transform an ATV rider into
a dirt bike rider—one a year—putting
on this series would be well worth
it!"
With 13 stitches in his lower right leg
from a mountain bike accident re-
cently, Cody Barnes limited himself
to one race, but he made it count,
taking the Lite B and morning race
overall.
Paul Whibley said of the Interlake
course: "It was hard work on a 450
out there. It was quite tight, like en-
duro-type terrain with a lot of switch-
backs."
