VOL. 51 ISSUE 27 JULY 8, 2014 P111
Briefly...
Since he's now the series points
leader in the Kenda AMA National
Enduro Championship Series, pre-
sented by Moose Racing, Nick
Fahringer will miss round five of the
OMAs—the inaugural Buffalo Run in
Sturgis, South Dakota—since both
events are on the same weekend.
While the Husqvarna rider won't lose
third in points, he'll certainly lose
ground.
Speaking of the Buffalo Run, things
are shaping up nicely, according to
OMA officials. With no mini or ATV
races, Saturday, July 26, will be de-
voted to the usual motorcycle fun
race and additional practice. The
standard motorcycle classes will
race on Sunday, July 27, with the
normal afternoon event being run in
a two-moto format, each of those an
hour and 15 minutes long. In addi-
tion, the mayor of Sturgis is sched-
uled to do a parade lap at some point
during the weekend, which could be
interesting as he apparently hasn't
ridden a dirt bike for years. Unlike
the Interlake course, the Sturgis cir-
cuit will be considerably shorter and
include an EnduroCross-type sec-
tion, all to make it more attractive for
spectators—and with the race being
held between town and two of the
more popular bars outside of town,
spectator traffic could be substan-
tial.
After his machine quit on the last lap
while running third ATV Pro on Satur-
day, Phillip Wall came back on Sun-
day to try his luck on two wheels. He
completed the morning race, finish-
ing fifth in 30-39 C.
