LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP
VOL. 51 ISSUE 26 JULY 1, 2014 P65
Briefly...
Following an impressive 1-1 sweep
two weeks ago at High Point, Yo-
shimura Suzuki's James Stewart
has since been in a whirlwind of
media attention upon the release of
a positive drug test result from the
Seattle Supercross. Despite a provi-
sional suspension put in place by the
FIM (which has a close relationship
with the AMA), Stewart made the de-
cision to compete at Muddy Creek,
but would not comment on the mat-
ter. Before the riding got started in
the morning, Stewart addressed the
media via his team's press relation's
person: "Recently the media has fo-
cused on my WADA test results. The
results are from a test after a recent
Supercross race. I had been taking
a very common prescription medica-
tion under doctor's care since late
2012. Doctors prescribed medicine
for me with an attention issue I suffer
from. I am working with the various
racing and organizing bodies to re-
solve this issue. I am fully cooperat-
ing with the best care for my medical
condition as well as what's best for
motocross. Additionally, I want to be
cleared to race Supercross as quick-
ly as possible. This process has run
its course according to FIM rules.
Until the FIM makes its decision
please understand that I will not be
commenting about this issue." Stew-
art found little relief from his off-track
problems while on the track at Muddy
Creek. Things got off to a disastrous
start for the former 450 class champ
when he got caught up in a first turn
crash in the opening moto. Stewart
made a valiant charge through the
pack to ultimately make his way back
to fifth in moto one. Stewart endured
even more misfortune in the second
moto, where he finished 11th to com-
bine for eighth overall on the day.

16-point lead over Dungey in the
championship standings. True
to the battle that's been taking
place all along, the KTM team-
mates, once again, dueled it
out at Muddy Creek Raceway to
each claim a moto win, although
it was Roczen who captured his
third win of the season at the
second annual Red Bull Tennes-
see National.
