there are the championship
contenders and then there's ev-
eryone else. But you can never
count out everyone else when it
comes to a race win or even an
overall victory in the deep field of
talent.
>>450 CLASS
BREAKING UP THE DUO
GEICO Honda's Eli Tomac made
his anticipated 450-class de-
but at Muddy Creek follow-
ing a lengthy recovery from a
broken collarbone during the
Supercross season. The 2013
250-class Champion made his
presence felt immediately by
setting the fastest lap in timed
qualifying, where he carried
that momentum into the open-
ing moto by capturing the first
holeshot of his 450-class ca-
reer. With a 3-3 finish for the
day, Tomac showed many mo-
ments of brilliance that are sure
to break up the monotony of the
KTM front-runners, but the Col-
orado-native admitted that he's

Stewart's challenging day dropped
him to 43 points out of the lead in
third, with just one point separating
he and Canard in fourth.
Similar to Stewart's first turn mishap,
Yamalube/Star Racing/Yamaha's
Jeremy Martin found himself on
the ground following a multi-rider
incident in the first corner. For the
first time this season, Martin was
never a factor in either moto. After
difficult starts and small mistakes
throughout both motos, Martin ulti-
mately finished a season-worst sev-
enth overall after posting 10-6 moto
scores. Despite that, he still sits atop
the 250-class standings albeit by
just eight points over his teammate
Webb. Baggett closed in to within 17
points of the lead in third. "The only
thing I'm concerned about is getting
a good week of practice and coming
out strong at RedBud," said Martin,
who also earned his first career win
earlier this season. "I rode as hard as
I could today and gave it everything
I had, so I can walk away knowing
I did everything I could. We'll just
come back stronger."
Toyota/Yamaha/N-Fab/JGRMX's
Justin Brayton made his first ap-
pearance of the season after taking
the first four rounds off due to a knee
injury. Brayton went 8-15 to capture
tenth overall in his first race back,
which, according to the Iowa native,
isn't the end of the world. "It's good
to be back at the races again, but I
definitely struggled, for sure," Bray-
ton said. "It was a tough one to come
back to with all the ruts and things
like that. There were times where I
felt pretty good and fast and there
were times where I really struggled.
I'm still a little bit cautious with my
