MARQUEZ BROTHERS TRIUMPH AGAIN
The only dry race of the day was thus
fairly straightforward … especially after
the two main men left the Moto3 party
early. Championship rivals Red Bull
KTM's Jack Miller and Sky VR46 KTM's
Romano Fenati both failed to score a
single point, leaving the Australian –
who had qualified on pole for a fourth
time – still seven points ahead, but both
now under serious threat from Alex
Marquez and Alex Rins (both on Estrella
Hondas), and SaxoPrint Honda's Efren
Vazquez.
Miller took off in the lead, intent
on emulating Marquez's Barcelona
breakaway. Then, into the first corner, "I
didn't brake late or anything, but I went
over the bump and it was a little slicker
than I expected." He was down and out.
This left Marquez in the lead, and
looking like repeating the feat: 1.2
seconds clear at the end of lap two.
Teammate Rins led the pursuit, from
Miller's teammate Karel Hanika and
Husqvarna's Niki Ajo, both of whom
were destined to crash out, the latter
spectacularly.
Fenati, meanwhile, had taken to the
grass at the chicane on the first lap,
finishing it down in 31st place.
Up front Rins caught and passed
Marquez, but only for one lap, and only
because the leader had made a slip
braking for the first corner, and taken to
the paved run-off.
Soon Marquez was alone again,
moving clear to win a second race in a
row by almost three seconds.
At the same time, Mahindra's Miguel
Oliveira had started well from 13th to get
up to eighth by lap two. He picked his
