TRICKER WINS MAMMOTH WMX
M
ackenzie Tricker continued her winning ways
in the 2014 AMA Women's Motocross Champi-
onship Series. The Australian won the latest round,
which was held in conjunction with the Monster
Energy Mammoth Motocross at Mammoth Lakes,
California, on June 29.
Tricker was strong from the get-go. She grabbed
the holeshot in each moto and never looked back,
topping both motos on her factory-backed Yamaha.
Team Green Kawasaki's Marissa Markelon fin-
ished second with a steady 2-2, while KTM's Brit-
ney Gallegos rounded out the podium with a 4-4
tally.
"The altitude as a little bit of a factor in the sec-
ond moto," said Tricker of the track's 7000-foot el-
evation. "I found it hard to breathe and my mouth
was dry, but I have a good fitness program and it
was more of a nuisance than a hindrance."
Tricker broke away from the pack in the first moto
and ran off with the win, but Markelon gave Tricker
a bit more of a challenge in the second moto.
After four rounds, Tricker maintains a solid lead in
the series standings with 197 points to Markelon's
148. Amber Felicio, who was fifth overall at Mam-
moth, is third with 87 points.
