Eli Tomac all being tested and
passing the tests.
Stewart finished fourth overall
in the 2014 Monster Energy Su-
percross Series and is currently
third in the AMA National Cham-
pionship Motocross Series after
taking the overall win two week-
ends ago in the High Point round
of the series in Pennsylvania.
Even though the Yoshimura
Suzuki Team says that Stewart
will be at the Muddy Creek Na-
tional this weekend, it is not clear
if he will actually race. Unlike
the Supercross Series, which is
co-sanctioned by the AMA and
the FIM, the outdoor series is
sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing,
which is the Daytona Motors-
ports Group (DMG), and run by
MX Sports Pro Racing. It is not
sanctioned by the FIM, though
they all — AMA Pro Racing, DMG
and the FIM — still coexist under
the same umbrella.
For the first time, DMG and MX
Sports implemented its own anti-
doping program for the outdoor
Nationals with the U.S. Anti-Dop-
ing Agency (USADA). The USADA
tested several riders, including
Stewart, at the June 7 National at
Thunder Valley in Colorado. The
results of those tests have not yet
been announced.
SMAGE PERFECT IN PENN
P
at Smage remained unde-
feated in the 2014 Aires AMA
NATC MotoTrials U.S. National
Championship Series after tak-
ing a pair of wins at rounds five
and six of the series in Valley
View, Pennsylvania, June 21-22.
The Sherco USA rider topped
Gas Gas USA rider Martin Mate-
jicek of the Czech Republic on
each day.
Smage overcame a mechani-
cal issue on the first loop of Sat-
urday's event. A sheered flywheel
key was the culprit, although
Smage wasn't able to diagnose
the problem until he returned to
the pits after the first lap.
"We tried just about every-
thing we could think of and we
where changing stuff in between
each section, so it was like rid-
ing a different bike in each sec-
tion, which was un-nerving," said
Smage.
After fixing the bike, Smage re-
gathered his focus and finished
the extremely tough event with a
total of 35 points to take the vic-
tory over Matejicek, who finished
the day with a total of 65 points.
Sherco USA's Bryan Roper,
who missed the first four rounds
of the series to compete in Eu-
rope, made his 2014 U.S. Na-
tional debut and came home
with a solid third-place finish af-
ter posting 98 points for the day.
Sherco USA riders Logan Bo-
lopue and Daniel Blanc-Gonnet
rounded out the top five on Sat-
urday, with Bolopue logging 108
points for the day, Blanc-Gonnet
127.
"This was the toughest event
we've had all year," said Smage.
"I was able to eliminate some
fives on my last loop, which kept
my score under control. My last
loop I was able to come in with
six points, which was consider-
