GEICO AMA ENDUROCROSS SERIES OFF ROAD ROUND 3/JUNE 21, 2014 SLEEP TRAIN ARENA/SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA P72 HAAKER BREAKS THROUGH Colton Haaker has his way in Sacramento BY SEAN FINLEY PHOTOGRAPHY BY DREW RUIZ O ver the last five years, Colton Haaker has been one of the fastest Endu- roCross racers in the world, but with only one main-event win to his credit, which came more than two years ago, Haaker has been, to say the least, hungry for that second win. After coming oh-so close so many times over the past few months, Haaker finally put it all together in Sacramento, using the proper amount of speed and patience to win round three of the 2014 GEICO AMA EnduroCross Championship inside the Sleep Train Arena. The Rockstar/Lucas Oil JCR Honda rider dominated the day by setting the quickest time in the Hot Lap competition, winning his heat race, and then passing Beta USA's Cody Webb to take the main-event win. As usual, the start of the En- durCross final got a little crowded going into the first turn, with the 13 main-event qualifiers all vying for the $500 Nexen Tire Hole- shot Award and the quick lead. Haaker, Webb, Mike Brown and defending champ Taddy Blazu- siak all were banging bars and wrestling for the point as the pack rounded the first corner. Webb used his lanky frame to his ad- vantage, as he elbowed his way to the front just ahead of Haaker, while Brown and Blazusiak both got shuffled back to sixth and 11 th places, respectively.
