ntering round four of the
2014 AMA Grand National
Championship at Knoxville
Raceway, two questions loomed
large: How would the unrestrict-
ed Harley-Davidsons fare at a
half-mile venue and would Kenny
Coolbeth Jr. continue his early-
season form despite suffering
from a thumb broken in a training
accident?
The answer to each question
was delivered in a most definitive
fashion.
The tractable XR750s owned
the entire Sunday afternoon pro-
gram in Iowa, sweeping their way
to the top of the charts in every
meaningful session. That domi-
nation culminated in a one-sided
blanking of all other makes in the
25-lap main event's top six.
The H-D march was headlined
by ex-factory Harley-Davidson pi-
lot Coolbeth, who is looking very
much like his old self aboard the
Zanotti Racing XR750.
After losing his works gig dur-
ing the off-season, the 36-year-
old three-time AMA Grand Nation-
al Champion is riding like a man
with something to prove, and he
COOLBETH. AGAIN.
