that race, Stewart wrestled the
lead away from Chad Reed on
lap two and then sprinted away,
building a safe lead early in the
race. Stewart would ease his
pace late in the moto, but still
managed to take an easy victory
ahead of Roczen and Dungey.
Moto two was almost a carbon
copy of the first, with Stewart tak-
ing the lead from Reed on the
opening lap ahead of Team Mus-
cle Milk Honda's Trey Canard,
and the two factory KTM riders.
This time, however, Canard put
pressure on Stewart and at one
point appeared to make a pass for
the lead. However, Stewart was
up for the challenge and held off

way mark," said Peick. "I felt strong
and I made some good passes. The
track was fast and one-lined so I tried
some different lines, going in and out
and I found some good lines."
In a fill-in role for Monster Energy
Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto, Brett
Metcalfe has had an up-and-down
season so far. This time, the Austra-
lian went 9-7 for ninth overall at High
Point. "I was right at the tail-end of
the lead group in the first moto and
I went down in kind of a silly, low-
speed area, so that was a bummer,"
said Metcalfe. "It was hard-packed
and I hit the ground pretty good and
honestly, I never regrouped from that
crash. It wasn't my best day, and I
felt like I didn't ride all that good, but
to come out with a couple of top 10s
was okay. It's not what I want by far,
but I really learned a lot in the sec-
ond moto, which is good. So I got
some value out of it."
Checking up on Blake Baggett's
eye injury, the Monster Energy/Pro
Circuit/Kawasaki Team rider had a
visit to the doctor last week and gave
this report: "We didn't have a lot of
time to test before the start of the
season due to my eye injury," said
Baggett. "My vision is basically the
same as it was at round one. I went
to the doctor on Wednesday and he
did all the tests and it's exactly the
same measurements as the start of
the season, so no changes yet."
Monster Energy Kawasaki's Jake
Weimer dropped out of the High
Point race early in the first moto af-
ter getting run over by TLD Honda's
Malcolm Stewart when Weimer went
down on the backside of a blind
jump. Stewart's bike hit him when
