P126 40 Years Ago June 25, 1974 The cover description simply read: "Artwork by Steve Norman." Apparently we liked Norman's work so much that we put it on the cover for no other reason, which was reason enough for us… We covered the SRA Grand Prix held for the sixth time at Riverside International Raceway in California… Jack Penton won the Potosi ISDT Two-Day Qualifier in Missouri… We revealed the all-new Hodaka 125 MX "Super Com- bat"… Gaston Rahier won his first MX GP in Germany; fellow Belgians Joel Robert and Sylvain Geboers went 2-3. 30 Years Ago June 24, 1984 A photo of Warren Reid in action was pictured on the cover 30 years ago to accompany our interview with the soon-to-be-retired motocrosser. A bro- ken leg sped up that process… Mike Baldwin won the GNC/Camel Pro Series road race at Loudon… Rick Johnson won the CMC Four-Stroke MX Championship at Carlsbad… Australian Geoff Ballard was the guy to beat that no one could at the Rose City ISDE Qualifier in Michigan… The World Trials Championship came to New York and was won by Belgian Eddy Lejeune. 10 Years Ago June 23, 2004 Speedway was the talk of the town 10 years ago with American Greg Hancock winning the British Grand Prix… We reported the wins by Ricky Carmichael (250) and James Stewart (125) at the Southwick National Motocross… Guess who won the Italian Road Race Grand Prix at Catalu- nya? Yup, Valentino Rossi… Noriyuki Haga won the World Superbike at Silverstone… Andrew McFarlane claimed his very first Motocross Grand Prix victory in the MX2 class in Italy… David Pearson edged out Kurt Caselli for the overall win at the Idaho City Qualifier.
