packed it in before the second
moto, however, which left Billy
Smith running away with the
overall win aboard his Honda.
The Modern Four-Stroke
class left plenty of jaws on the
floor when women's pro moto-
cross rider Sayaka Kaneshiro
came out swinging. The former
factory Honda rider controlled
the early part of the first moto
and starred in a spectacular
three-way battle for the lead
throughout the race. Kaneshiro
barely held on to second over-
all behind Johnny O'Brien, but
was technically first Open Ex-
pert since O'Brien signed up as
Intermediate.
The second Open Pro moto
was much the same, with
Kaneshiro battling close to
the front throughout the race.
O'Brien once again finished
first overall with Kaneshiro in
tow, each taking 1-1 victories in
their respective classes.
"Very, very awesome day,"
Kaneshiro said. "I never had so
much fun. I promise! Back and
forth and banging around with
the guys, it was so much fun! I
loved it! There's a lot of sweet
people here and people cheer-
