GEICO AMA ENDUROCROSS SERIES VOL. 51 ISSUE 23 JUNE 10, 2014 P91 believe I fell exiting the rocks," said a frustrated Haaker. Beta USA's Max Gerston passed FMF KTM's Taylor Rob- ert on the last lap to take fifth. Brown pulled off after a second crash re-injured the hand that he broke at the Las Vegas opening round. "I fell and it pushed my clutch lever up and I smacked it down with my hand like normal because I forgot about the inju- ry," said Brown. "I did not want to hurt it any more so I pulled off. Terrible start to my season but I will be back in Sacramento going for the win in two weeks." In the Women's class, KTM's Kacy Martinez took her first ever X Games gold medal with a wire- Briefly... Austin. Colton Haaker is five points back with 43. With limited space available due to the Rally Cars, Off-Road Trucks, En- duro X and Freestyle riders sharing the same area, the motorcycle riders were placed in a shared tent area. It was a little tight but allowed all of the riders/teams to mingle and cre- ate a friendly atmosphere. FMF KTM's Taylor Robert has had a bit of a disappointing start to the season with a fifth-place finish in Las Vegas followed up by a sixth in Aus- tin. He expected to be contending for wins but suffered a serious injury about a month before Las Vegas and that has put him behind a little. "I felt really ready for the season before I got hurt," Robert said. "I took a han- dlebar to the gut and tore my lower intestines, which required surgery and I lost eight pounds of muscle while I was in the hospital. I am do- ing the Last Dog Standing event at Glen Helen next week followed by the Sacramento EnduroCross the week after, but then I look forward to a little break in racing to get back to where I was strength wise." Even for the top riders, making the main event is a big challenge at EnduroCross/Enduro X. Canada's Bobby Prochnau finished fourth in Las Vegas but missed the main in Austin. Kevin Rookstool was in a qualifying position in his heat race and the LCQ but had problems both times. Destry Abbott, Gary Suther- lin, Bryan Roper and Wally Palmer also missed the cut.
