got up, brushed himself off and
would later get out in front during
the first lap of both motos, and
both times he left the field way
behind, winning both motos by
nearly the exact same margins
(19.3 seconds in the first moto
and 19.5 seconds in the second
moto) over his Yamalube/Star
Racing Yamaha teammate Coo-
per Webb.
The amazing part is that Martin
is seemingly taking his recent suc-
cess all in stride and taking each
win in remarkably calm fashion.
"You know, this is what I've
been focusing on," Martin said.
"Obviously, Supercross went
bad. My focus is to get better and
keep getting better."
He did say, however, that he
was proud of his second-moto win.
"It was good," he said. "Chris-
tophe Pourcel was second, Coo-
per was third, I was fortunate to

magic again. At Hangtown, he fin-
ished ninth in the first moto and
pulled out of the second moto after
twisting his ankle and experiencing
problems with his bike.
Soaring Eagle/RCH Suzuki's
Weston Peick had a strong show-
ing at Hangtown. Despite not getting
the best of starts in either 450 mo-
tos, the Suzuki rider battled his way
to the front and was rewarded with
sixth overall after going 8-6.
Privateer Spotlight: There were
a few privateers who stood out at
Hangtown, such as Dillan Epstein
on the Casey Johnson Racing Hon-
da. Epstein cracked the top 10 in the
second 250 moto. A 17
th
in the first
moto netted him 12
th
overall. Austra-
lian Jackson Richard looked good
in the second moto when he finished
ninth. In the 450 class, Sweden's
Fredrik Noren went 12-13 for 12
th
overall, and Sean Collier had his
Fasthouse KTM up there for a while
in both motos before finishing out
the day 14
th
overall with 15-16 moto
finishes.
Lucas Oil/Troy Lee Design Honda's
Shane McElrath sat out Hangtown
and will skip the next round at Colo-
rado, as well. McElrath suffered a
hard get-off while practicing earlier
in the week that left him with a badly
bruised back. He attempted to get
the blood drained from the back and
ride practice, but it was too painful
for him to go on.
It was surprising to see Kyle Cun-
ningham at Hangtown since he was
originally scheduled to travel with his
Smartop/MotoConcepts Team to
Canada to compete in their National
Cooper Webb (37)
chased down and passed
Christophe Pourcel (377).
Webb and Pourcel went 2-3
for a Yamaha sweep of the
250 class.
