OFF ROAD 2014 AIRES AMA NATC MOTOTRIAL USA NATIONAL SERIES ROUNDS 3-4/MAY 31-JUNE 1, 2014 SEDAN, KANSAS P100 up it. It was scary for sure, and dangerous." In the meantime, Bolopue and Sherco USA's Daniel Blanc-Gon- net went head to head in a battle over the final podium position. Bolopue got off to a good start by cleaning the first three sec- tions and ended the first lap with a total of 17. Meanwhile, Gonnet had a tougher time in the begin- ning and finished out the first loop with 29. Bolopue struggled on the sec- ond lap and posted three-straight fives in the middle part of the lap and then added another in sec- tion 12 for a total of 29 for the lap. Gonnet had 10 less than Bo- lopue, in spite of struggling with a tire that he had to inflate in be- tween every section, and moved to within two points of his team- mate heading into the final lap. In the end, Bolopue was able to pull ahead of Gonnet, turning in a 21-point card, compared to a 23-point card for Gonnet, to get the final step of the podium. "My first loop was pretty good, but I fell apart in the second loop and me and Daniel were pretty close after that," said Bolopue. Luckily, I was able to get it to- gether on my last loop and pull out third, which I'm happy with." American Beta's Ray Peters and Sherco USA's Andrew Putt continued their battle for the Expert-class win, with Putt eking out a one-point victory over the former Pro rider from Texas. "There were a lot of challenges out there and a lot of risky lines, there were a lot of narrow lines you had to ride across and if you fell off your line then there was the big chance you would get a five," said Putt. "I had a few mis- takes that weren't called for, but I think I rode pretty good in most of the sections." Florida Beta rider Alexan- der Niederer was third with 33 points, followed by Bailey Tucker (GG) with 34, and Quinn Wentzel (Shr) with 44. Sunday Sunday's event was a bit tough- er than Saturday's event. And Smage got off to a rocky start by taking a five in section two. "I didn't start off as good as I wanted to; pretty early on I made dumb mistake and took a bad line and it cost me a five," said Smage. "I floated my rear wheel over a marker and got fived for it, otherwise it would have been a one for me. It was a bit of a bum- mer to start off the day that way, Martin Matejicek found the Kansas terrain more to his liking than the Colorado round last week and was able to stay a bit closer to winner Smage.
