ound three and four of
the 2014 AMA Superbike
Championship at Road
America had all the feel of an ear-
ly coronation for heir apparent,
Cameron Beaubier. That is until
a wild Sunday served as a stark
reminder, not only of the rookie
status of Beaubier, but the vola-
tile nature of the sport.
Despite the 21-year-old's domi-
nating form, when the points
were all tallied up at the end of
the weekend in Wisconsin, Beau-
bier's post-Daytona one-point
lead over Roger Hayden had be-
come a no-point lead, and three-
time AMA Superbike champ Josh
Hayes was right back in the mix
- just four points removed from
first.
NEW CHALLENGE
Ever since Hayes figured out how
to really push a Superbike during
the second half of his first season
on works equipment in 2009, the
Mississippian has been the fast-
est man in the class. Even retiring
champ Mat Mladin couldn't keep
