WORLD SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP
VOL. 51 ISSUE 21 MAY 28, 2014 P73
Briefly...
The Pata Honda team tried a whole
new swingarm with Jonathan Rea
at the recent Imola test day, but it
didn't make it to Donington as Rea
preferred the feel of the original one,
especially as he approached his
home circuit.
In 2014 Aussie racer Glenn Rich-
ards is helping the cause of Alex
Lowes inside the Voltcom Crescent
Suzuki garage, but he made a more
practical impact on Wednesday be-
fore Donington. He rode the bike in
the traditional Wednesday afternoon
bike test session at Mallory Park to
sort out some engine braking issues
and provide valuable feedback to the
team, which is banned from testing
'in-season' except at official sessions
organized by Dorna.
Leon Camier was declared unfit to
ride by the medics at Donington af-
ter his big crash at Schwantz' Curve
on Saturday that left him with a cut
left bicep. At the time he felt the
pain, but it got worse as time went
on. The doctors were afraid that any
more damage, even under just the
stress of riding, would dislodge the
muscle from its normal position and
cause far greater complications so
he missed his home round.
Hero EBR's Geoff May did not qual-
ify for the races at Donington after
encountering an electronics prob-
lem that kept him outside of the 107
percent limit compared to the lead-
ing rider. With the exit of other rid-
ers, the grid for race one featured
just 23 bikes - the last one belonging
to Hero EBR's Aaron Yates.
