SUPERBIKE SHOOTOUT SUPERBIKE SHOOTOUT SERIES FINAL ROUND/MAY 25, 2014 MILLER MOTORSPORTS PARK/TOOELE, UTAH P104 was their best Pro Superbike re- sults to date. In addition to the crash fest, the start light procedure was a bit different than the AMA regulars were used to. Hayes was caught off guard by it, but was able to re- cover. "The start light happened so fast that I was still putting it in gear when the light came on," Hayes said. "And then the light was off and Chris [Fillmore] was gone." Anthony also got a bad start, but for a different reason. "I guess I was a little bit better prepared than Josh [Hayes] be- cause I actually went down there and watched all the other races," Anthony said. "So I knew it was going to be on, off really quick. I was in gear before the guy even walked off the trackā€¦ thought, 'Alright I've got this. I'm sure none of these guys have been down here looking at this.' But where I was and where the sun was I couldn't even see the lights at all. Nothing at all. So I was sit- ting there waiting for it to come on and these guys had already gone. And I didn't even realize it had come on. Yeah, all that work for nothing. It started off bad, but obviously it ended good." So we made progress this weekend. We still have a lot of progress to make with the bike and everything else to get back to where we were. It feels really good to be up there with Josh Hayes and David Anthony and to have the Superbike Shootout Series be a success especially given the fact that my family put it on." "There's more than one finish line for you," Hayes interjected. "Yes this is also a finish," Ulrich acknowledged. "I'm very pleased that my duties as a series promot- er are done today. It's been fun. I really enjoyed it. I'm really thank- ful for everybody coming out. I'm really thankful I could get on the podium during it too. It's kind of an added bonus. "But it's a greater good proj- ect. So if my racing suffers a little bit, than so be it. Because the sport needs this. And that's the goal. I'm happy I could be part of it. I'm happy to be up on the podium today. I think I rode well. And now we roll on back to that other deal [AMA] and see if we can make more progress as the season continues."
