LUCAS OIL PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP VOL. 51 ISSUE 21 MAY 28, 2014 P39 Briefly... Rockstar Energy Team's Jason Anderson (KTM) had a very good day going before it ended in bit- ter disappointment. After finishing a strong third in the first 250 moto, the recently crowned AMA 250 West Supercross Champion was running fourth with two laps to go when his bike's motor gave up. His 3-DNF gave him 10 th overall and 28 points on the day, so with 22 motos still left on the schedule, he still is very much in the hunt for the 250 title. Overall, though, it wasn't a great start to the season for the Rockstar Team. Joey Savatgy missed Glen Helen with a broken collarbone (but is expected to be back next week at Hangtown) and Davi Millsaps is still out until at least the middle of June with a foot injury. A surprise no-show was SmartTop/ MotoConcepts' Mike Alessi. Alessi was hoping to put in one good show- ing on his home track before head- ing to Canada for the summer for next week's Canadian National MX Series opener. Turns out, Alessi be- came ill early Saturday morning and spent the entire day at the hospital, recovering from food poisoning, which his team believes he got from eating fish the night before. Chad Reed returned to action for the first time since his big crash early in the Supercross Series. The Dis- count Tire/TwoTwo Motorsports Ka- wasaki Team rider/owner went 9- 10 for 10 th overall and said afterward that he was quite pleased with his perfor- mance. "My goal was to be in the top 10…don't make any mistakes, no crashes," he said. "I'm just stoked to be here and feel good on the bike. My shoulder didn't hurt at all." continued on next page LAST-LAP PASS WINS IT FOR RYAN DUNGEY; JEREMY MARTIN BLOWS 'EM AWAY IN 250S DUNGEY! MARTIN! With the finish line in sight, Ryan Dungey finishes off the pass on Ken Roczen for the second moto win and overall victory.
