IN THE WIND P22 WILSON ON THE MEND M onster Energy/Pro Circuit/ Kawasaki's Dean Wilson is already in healing mode after suf- fering a terrible gash to the back of his knee when he crashed while running fifth in the second moto at the Glen Helen National Motocross on May 24. Luck- ily, the injury isn't quite as bad as first feared, but it's still pretty serious and it is not yet known when he will be able to get back on the track again. "It all is kind of a blur because it happened so fast," said Wilson. "I just got kicked off my Kawa- saki KX250F coming down one of the hills and in that process managed to have something cut my knee open pretty good. I'm in a lot of pain, but it looks like I avoided hitting any ligaments, tendons, or arteries. I'm crushed right now because I'm not sure what this will mean for the rest of the season, but I'm stitched up and looking to get back out there as soon as I can. We'll see how it plays out." Dean Wilson suffered a knee injury at the Glen Helen National MX. It's not known yet when he'll be able to return. CAIROLI, HERLINGS MASTER MATTERLEY R ed Bull KTM Factory Rac- ing's Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings claimed the MX1 and MX2 class wins in the FIM World Motocross Championship at Matterley Basin in Great Britain on May 25. Cairoli went 1-2 to claim his fifth overall win of the year in the MX1 class, while Herlings swept the MX2 class to ex- tend his points lead. Rockstar Energy Suzuki World's Clement Desalle had a shot for the overall win but a high-speed washout in the first moto ended that chance. He did, however, finish fourth in the moto and, combined with his second-moto run- away win, Desalle was cred- ited with second overall. Yamaha Factory Racing's Jeremy Van Horebeek contin- ues to keep up his podium ap- pearances with a pair of thirds for third overall. Fourth overall was a sea- son best result for Red Bull Antonio Cairoli won again in the World Motocross Champion- ship - this time at Great Britain's Matterley Basin Circuit.
