P130 40 Years Ago June 4, 1974 One of the stars of the cover of Cycle News 40 years ago was the Harley-Da- vidson SX 175 dual sport bike that we tested in the issue. We also featured the "crash city" Colorado Half Mile, won by Mert Lawwill, and the Greenhorn En- duro in California… We covered the fourth running of the Virginia City Grand Prix where Carl Cranke came away with the overall victory… Brad Lackey finished third in Belgium, while an ill Jim Pomeroy didn't start in Yugoslavia. 30 Years Ago June 6, 1984 A giant-sized photo of Kevin Hines in action at the Fools Gold National Enduro in California was featured on the cover 30 years ago. It was a Husky sweep with Hines winning ahead of Mike Melton, Dave Bertram, Terry Cunning- ham and Fritz Kadlec… Rick Johnson and Jeff Ward were the big winners at the High Point National Motocross, with Johnson topping the 250 class and Ward the 125 class… Eddie Lawson outdueled Freddie Spencer at the Austrian Grand Prix… Tony Pasqualotto won the 14 th Virginia City GP. 10 Years Ago June 2, 2004 Eric Bostrom was pictured on the cover 10 years ago for winning the Pikes Peak AMA Superbike over Jake Zemke and Aaron Yates. It was his fifth win at the facility… Chris Carr won the AMA Flat Track at Florence Speedway in Kentucky… Jason Raines led Barry Hawk and Rodney Smith across the fin- ish line at the Rausch Creek GNCC in Pennsylvania… Destry Abbott claimed the AMA National Hare & Hound victory over David and Russ Pearson in Ocotillo, California… We interviewed "Frankie" — Pier-Francesco Chili.
