AMA/SRT HARE & HOUND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
VOL. 51 ISSUE 20 MAY 20, 2014 P87
Briefly...
The 2.5-mile-long bomb run claimed
at least two 250cc Experts: Curtis
Bradley and Ryan Smith. Bradley
went to the hospital right away where
the initial diagnosis was no broken
bones, just painful soft-tissue dam-
age in his back. Smith managed to
pick up his bike and complete the
first loop before calling it a day. A
medical check the next day revealed
a Type II AC separation. Both are ex-
pected to recover in time for the next
round.
Purvines Racing Beta team owner
Ron Purvines described his trip to
Italy last month to meet with Beta
brass as very productive. With his
team doing well in the hare and
hound series, it has added credibil-
ity to his input among key Beta per-
sonnel regarding bike issues as well
as additional support. Purvines also
said the factory is now pushing for
his team to broaden its horizons by
sending several riders to the ISDE in
Argentina so expect to see the team
at the first ISDE Qualifier in Idaho on
May 31-June 1.
The Silver State Trailblazers M.C.
had to change the way the course
finished because of beavers. Yes,
beavers. Originally, the club planned
on using a creek that runs through
town as the final mile or so, but in
the final days beaver dams made
the proposed course suitable only
for watercraft. Blowing up the dams
several times only resulted in the
busy mammals constructing re-
placements farther downstream.
In the end, the club had no option
but to finish in town behind an aban-
doned warehouse, then ride through
the facility to a ceremonial finish line
before putting through town to Rose
Ivan Ramirez
grabbed the
lead right away
and spent the
rest of the race
out front.
