VOL. 51 ISSUE 20 MAY 20, 2014 P83
For 2015, the Suzuki RM-Z450 gets new 2.5 pounds lighter Showa SFF
Air Forks that replace the former SFF spring forks. The bike is also fitted
with what it calls Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control. Via a switch on the left
handlebar, the rider can chose between two mapping modes for the
starts when using the Holeshot Assist. Many tweaks have been made to
the RM-Z's frame, so many; in fact, it's pretty much all new. The weight
of the frame has been reduced by four percent, the downtube has been
redesigned, and the main-frame inner ribs have been reshaped. Many
changes have been made to the motor, as well. Its five-speed transmis-
sion has been tweaked for easier shifting, and the kick-starting system
has been modified to make starting easier. Suzuki claims that a new
engine-cooling design improves cooling efficiency by 16 percent. The
muffler has also been redesigned.
