VOL. 51 ISSUE 20 MAY 20, 2014 P29 YAMAHA OUT OF AUSSIE SX Y amaha Motor Australia announced last week that it is pulling out of the Australian Supercross Championship, effective immediately. "Due to on-going concerns surrounding the cur- rent state of the Australian Supercross Champion- ship (ASX), Yamaha Motor Australia and all three of its factory supported race teams, CDR Yamaha, Serco Yamaha and GYTR Yamaha, will not be par- ticipating in the 2014 Australian Supercross Cham- pionship, as it currently stands." Yamaha cited a "lack of precise, confirmed infor- mation surrounding the organization and promotion of the championship has led to this unfortunate po- sition. This is not a decision Yamaha and its teams have taken lightly but has resulted through our forced inability to plan and budget for events that cannot be confidently relied upon. Yamaha's racing passion is undeniable and so it is only with careful consideration that we have taken this decision." Yamaha said that if there were a change in the direction and promotion of the series, it would reas- sess its decision. CASELLI FOUNDATION GOES DOFFO T he Kurt Caselli Foun- dation is holding what should be a very entertain- ing day of fundraising at the Doffo Winery in Temecula, California, on May 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with all pro- ceeds going toward the foun- dation. Entry to the event is $10 per person. An auction will be held during the day on items from Caselli's past as well as motorcycle-related items donated from sponsors of the event. Complimen- tary snacks will be served at noon and a special showing of the Caselli 66 – Ride the Dream movie will take place at 2 p.m. Later in the day an exclusive screening of Why We Ride will show in the barrel room and spe- cial guest, Joe Barker, will talk about his experiences at the Paris-Dakar Rally. In addition, wine will be available for purchase with a custom-made Kurt Caselli Foundation logo. Caselli's Dakar bike will be on display along with a small collection of personal belong- ings and photos of his racing history. Guests can also tour the MotoDoffo Vintage collec- tion of motorcycles, which are on display in the outside seat- ing area and the barrel room. Kurt's mother, Nancy, sis- ter, Carolyn, and fiancée, Sar- ah White, will all be in atten- dance supporting the event. Ride Like Caselli T-shirts and stickers will be available for purchase. All proceeds will go to The Kurt Caselli Foun- dation with a mission to help protect the lives of off-road riders before, during and af- ter a race.
