The AMA Pro Flat Track series returns to action at the
Illinois State Fairgrounds for the Springfield Mile. Last
year Howerton Motorsport's Bryan Smith was the odds
on favorite at the miles. But with Howerton's departure
from racing, Smith has a new green machine - a Jeff
Gordon tuned Kawasaki in a highly modified C&J
chassis by Robert Terando. And everyone's waiting to
see its debut at Springfield and see if Smith will reas-
sert his dominance on the miles on the new machine.

The 2014 Aires NATC/AMA MotoTrials US National Se-
ries gets underway in Texas Creek, Colorado. Defend-
ing champ Pat Smage is the pre-season favorite as he
looks to claim his seventh title. But there is some new
talent joining the championship this year - current Czech
Republic Junior Trials Champion Martin Matejicek. Rid-
ing a Gas Gas for the U.S. importer, the 18 year old is
seen as the guy to challenge Smage.

After a five-year absence, the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Moto-
cross Championship returns to Glen Helen Raceway
in San Bernardino, California, to kick off the 2014 sea-
son. And when the gates drop on May 24, defending
champ Ryan Villopoto will not be there as he is sitting
out the outdoor season to recover from knee surgery.
